Late last night I was chatting with a friend and the subject of corporate cards and gifts came up. I don’t send out “holiday” cards. I send Christmas cards. That’s right. Big fat Christmas cards with references to a manger, the New Testament and SAINT Nick. What’s wrong with sending Christmas cards?
I remember when I was a little girl I would run home from school and carefully examine all the new cards that had arrived that day in the mail. I would sit on the sofa with my parents and memorize all the names of distant relatives and some of my parents’ childhood friends. I learned all the religions of the world through those cards.
Today, I send cards to let me family, friends and business associates know that I’m thinking of them during this special time of year. The cards and the personal messages I inscribe are a reflection of my beliefs. Is there something wrong with that? If there is, then I don’t want to be right.
Have a safe and Merry Christmas.
