As most of you know I make a point of changing my telephone messages every day and when appropriate I also change the message to the FAQ number located on the main page. I begin taking calls at around 9 AM EST (sometimes earlier particularly when someone asks me) and I take my last call at 2:45 AM EST (sometimes later it just depends how the day goes).
The only way to reach me is via the feedback form located on the Contact page. E-mails sent to my web address are NOT read and are automatically deleted. I explained the reason for that a few years ago but I’ll recap here: spam. If you have a question use the form. I will answer your question on this site.
Ok, I’m going through the questions … you guys do know the difference between an authorization and a charge, right? I know I have gone over this before which reminds me I should add a search feature to the site …hang on… Now there is a search feature! I think I’ll summarize the 1000+ plus stories on the site so that they too may be included in the search feature. At present, the only the stories included are written by me.
Well, I see there’s a little confusion so I’ll go over the credit card thing again. When you enter your credit card information on online via the Pricing page at the top of the form it states, “This form validates your credit card. Your credit card will not be charged. For verification purposes, an authorization of USD XX.00 will be made to validate your credit card.”
This is called an authorization. An authorization simply checks to ensure that funds are available for this transaction AND it holds the funds in your account for a set number of days. My company’s authorizations or auths hold for a maximum of three days. Auths fall off after 3 days OR when your card is charged.
The same is true if you provide your credit card information over the telephone.
Your card is never charged until AFTER you receive the service. And a charge, of course, is payment for the service provided. Got it? If not just send your comments and questions via the feedback and I’ll try to explain further. The bottom line is that there is never a charge to your credit card until AFTER the service has been provided.
The FAQ number has been updated to talk more about this subject.
The phone is ringing, so until next time…
