If one more person asks if I take Pay Pal, I’m going to eat a bug. Searching through my entries I found Last Day for PayPal Transactions and No Longer Taking PayPal, Pay Pal. I think it’s fair to say that I have covered this topic.
To recap: 1. eBay bought PayPal 2. The acceptable use policy was updated to exclude audio text merchants (Audio text or audio text = Phone Sex). 3. At present unless it’s “art” one can not sell anything adult, “porn” or XXX related using PayPal. I’m sure there are exceptions and situations that may need to be clarified but phone sex isn’t one of them. And Yes I do realize there is a Mature Audiences section on eBay (It’s under the Everything Else area). I don’t get it either. However, one thing is painfully clear, phone sex companies are not allowed to use PayPal, Therefore, I DO NOT TAKE PAYPAL.
I really do not understand why the mad rush to use (for lack of a better word) “PayPal-like” services. I mean Cheap Phone Sex accepts credit cards and checks. And if I am not mistaken that is how you would fund your PayPal account, right? If the issue is privacy, well that’s a bit silly. No matter what payment option you chose you must tell us who you are. In other words, you can not be anonymous making purchases online especially when buying “porn”. There is an extra burden on adult companies to verify your information AND make certain you are of legal age. The same contact information provided to services like PayPal is forwarded to the phone sex business.
These “PayPal like” services aren’t providing anything new (most phone sex companies accept credit cards and checks) and do not provide anonymity (contact information is shared with the phone sex service).
So, why use any of these services? Well, if you are leery of sharing your credit card or checking account information then this may be a service you can use.
